Visited this place for a 2nd time as we did not like it the 1st time for the lunch buffet. Thought maybe we caught it on a bad day, found out it had new owners and the food and service was outstanding.

The Blue Jay Restaurant, what a gift to hungry people. Been there more than a couple of times, even though I'm from out of town. Food is incredibly fresh and seasoned perfectly. Being from Houston, (but had Odum family), I'm sort of a restaurant snob. I'm missing this experience right now -- don't miss it!
This is homecooked Southern food of very high quality. I had excellent ham, squash casserole, grean beans (with appropriate side meat within), good banana pudding, and a key lime pie with a pecans in the crust. Not much atmosphere (old movie posters kind of at variance with the church basement nature of the cooking and the folks who came to dine). But a real find on the road to Saint Simons.
